Lunch with Governor Huckabee

April 20, 2007, I met hopefully the next President of the United States. The afternoon began a short question and answer session with local pastors and prayer. It was refreshing to listen to someone that did not just decide he was a conservative Christian. Governor Huckabee held true to his faith, even when he was questioned about things he disagreed with. He carried himself well during the question and answer session. He spoke strongly for second amendment rights and Religious freedom. I was impressed with his position on the second amendment. He is the first politician I have heard in a while acknowledge the Second Amendment is for my ability to defend myself, family, and property. He also acknowledged it gave me the ability to protect myself against a tyrannical government. Governor Huckabee expressed he was in favor of personalized Social Security, less government, less taxes, prolife, and willing to leave me alone. Huckabee for President 08

What happens to the simple minded?

Proverbs 14:15 A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps. (NIV)

I recently found myself in a heated discussion with a couple of wally-world employees about gun control. We went round and round discussing gun control. Every time I presented evidence to oppose gun control the employee would not answer the facts or even acknowledge them. I found myself frustrated. As I drove home, I dwelt on the conversation trying to understand why this employee felt like he did. Then I realized he is the kind of simple person this passage is talking about. He believes everything he hears on the television, newspaper, etc. It’s easy to be simple. It requires no effort. They believe the government is going to protect, provide, and meet all of their needs. Whether its gun control, welfare, or working an entry level job at wally-world, they look for the easy way out. Where does the simple end up?

Proverbs 1:32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; (NIV)

VT President shares blame in Massacre!

The Virginia Tech President shares responsibility in the slaying of these students. The Virginia legislature failed to pass a measure that would allow students with a concealed weapon permit carry on the school property. The VT president lobbied against it and applauded the government for not passing it. He retorted that the students and their parents could now feel safe at the school. Hey Prez, you think those helpless students feel safe now. I am sure every one of those dead students’ parents appreciates you forcing them to be defenseless at your university. No one was able to defend themselves. I guess that gun control thing is doing a real good job. Stopping all of those law abiding students with a CWP from carrying their gun stopped all the violence. I guess someone forgot to inform the murderer.
